Justice Lucy K. McSweeney earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from the University of Toronto in 1988 (Prabook). She then obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Queen's University, Faculty of Law in 1993 (Prabook; Queen's Law). During law school, she was an outstanding student and received several awards, including the Queen's University Faculty of Law Gavel Award, the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award (the highest tribute given to students at Queen's for extracurricular, non-athletic activities), the National Trust Law Student Achievement Award, and the Carswell-Stikeman Elliott Taxation Award (OBA biography; Queen's Law). She later pursued an LL.M. in constitutional law at the University of Toronto on a part-time basis (OBA biography).
