Teacher found not guilty of professional misconduct after student's allegations of sexual relationship deemed not credible.

The Ontario College of Teachers alleged that the member, a high school teacher, engaged in professional misconduct and incompetence by having an inappropriate and sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

The student alleged that the member drove her to work, exchanged emails and phone calls, and had sex with her at a motel.

The Discipline Committee found the student's testimony to be inconsistent and not credible, noting she had previously denied the relationship to several people and could not recall key details.

The member denied the allegations and provided consistent testimony.

The Committee concluded the College failed to meet the burden of proof, found the member not guilty of all allegations, and ordered the publication of the unfounded allegations at the member's request.

Teacher found guilty of professional misconduct for poor classroom management and verbal abuse; conditional suspension ordered.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought disciplinary proceedings against a member for professional misconduct related to his employment as a probationary Grade 8 French teacher.

The member experienced severe difficulties with classroom management, failed to provide adequate lesson plans, and verbally abused students.

Despite extensive support and resources provided by the school administration, the member's performance remained unsatisfactory, leading to his resignation.

The member pled guilty to professional misconduct.

The Discipline Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty, ordering a six-month suspension of the member's certificate, postponed for one year on the condition that he complete coursework in classroom management and lesson planning, and provide satisfactory performance appraisals.
