Ontario College of Teachers v. Frederick Paul Fromm, 2006 ONOCT 17

Teacher's certificate revoked for off-duty participation in racist and white supremacist activities.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought discipline proceedings against a teacher who engaged in extensive off-duty public activities promoting racist, anti-Semitic, and white supremacist views.

The member argued his activities were legal and occurred outside the classroom.

Applying the Supreme Court's decision in Ross, the Discipline Committee found that the member's public persona and activities poisoned the school environment, caused significant disruption, and undermined public confidence in the education system.

The Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct and ordered the revocation of his teaching certificate.

Ontario College of Teachers v. Montemurro, 2006 ONOCT 31

Teacher reprimanded and ordered to complete coursework for inappropriate conduct towards adult students.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought disciplinary proceedings against a member for professional misconduct relating to inappropriate behaviour towards adult students, including kissing a student during a CPR demonstration and making inappropriate jokes and gestures.

The member pleaded guilty to failing to maintain the standards of the profession, engaging in disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct, and conduct unbecoming a member.

The Discipline Committee accepted the guilty plea and the joint submission on penalty.

The member was reprimanded, ordered to complete a course on classroom management, and received a one-month suspension that would be suspended upon fulfillment of the conditions.

Ontario College of Teachers v. Taylor, 2005 ONOCT 33

Teacher's certificate revoked following criminal convictions for sexual assault and gross indecency involving students.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought disciplinary proceedings against a retired member who had pled guilty to multiple criminal charges of sexual assault and gross indecency involving young male students.

The member also acknowledged possessing child pornography.

The member did not attend the hearing but submitted an Agreed Statement of Facts and a Joint Submission on Penalty, pleading guilty to professional misconduct and sexual abuse of students.

The Discipline Committee accepted the joint submission, finding the member guilty of professional misconduct.

The Committee ordered the immediate revocation of the member's certificate of qualification and registration, noting the egregious nature of the grooming and sexual abuse.

Ontario College of Teachers v. Roque, 2005 ONOCT 31

Teacher found guilty of professional misconduct for boundary violations and ordered to complete remedial coursework.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a member for professional misconduct.

The member admitted to engaging in inappropriate boundary violations with students, including discussing highly personal and sexual matters, making disparaging remarks about staff and students, and showing favouritism.

The Discipline Committee accepted the member's guilty plea and the joint submission on penalty.

The member was ordered to be admonished, complete a course on maintaining appropriate boundaries, provide a practitioner's report, and have the decision published.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought a motion seeking leave to withdraw allegations of professional misconduct and incompetence against the member.

The member consented to the withdrawal on the condition that he immediately resign his membership, surrender his certificate, and undertake never to teach again or seek reinstatement.

The Discipline Committee granted the motion, finding that the member's resignation and the cancellation of his certificate protected the public interest.

Teacher found guilty of professional misconduct for inappropriate boundaries with students; certificate cancelled following resignation.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought disciplinary proceedings against a member for engaging in inappropriate conversations and contacts with two adult female students.

The member did not attend the hearing but submitted a plea of no contest and an Agreed Statement of Facts.

The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct for failing to maintain professional boundaries.

Accepting a joint submission on penalty, the Committee permitted the member to resign, cancelled his certificate of qualification, and imposed conditions on any future application for reinstatement.

The Committee also ordered the publication of the member's full name in the College's official publication.

Teacher's certificate revoked following criminal conviction for possession of child pornography and breach of recognizance.

The member, an occasional teacher, pleaded guilty to professional misconduct after being criminally convicted of possessing child pornography and breaching a recognizance that prohibited contact with minors.

The Discipline Committee accepted an Agreed Statement of Facts and Guilty Plea.

Finding the member's conduct disgraceful and dishonourable, and noting the lack of forensic evidence suggesting he would not reoffend, the Committee ordered the immediate revocation of his certificate of qualification and registration.

Teacher's certificate revoked following guilty plea for making, possessing, and distributing child pornography.

The Member pleaded guilty to professional misconduct before the Discipline Committee of the Ontario College of Teachers.

The Member admitted to making, possessing, and distributing child pornography, including superimposing students' faces onto explicit images, and using school equipment for these purposes.

The Member had previously pleaded guilty to related criminal charges and was sentenced to one year of incarceration.

The Committee accepted the joint submission on penalty, finding the Member's actions deplorable and a breach of trust.

The Committee ordered the immediate revocation of the Member's certificate of qualification and registration.

The Member, an elementary teacher, faced allegations of professional misconduct for borrowing over $1 million under false pretences from various residents and failing to repay the money.

The Member did not attend the hearing but entered into a Memorandum of Agreement pleading guilty to the allegations.

The Discipline Committee accepted the guilty plea and found the Member guilty of professional misconduct.

Accepting the joint submission on penalty, the Committee ordered a 14-month suspension of the Member's certificate of qualification and registration, along with publication of the decision.

The member pleaded guilty to professional misconduct following criminal convictions for nine counts, including indecent assault, gross indecency, assault, and assault causing bodily harm against multiple victims.

The Discipline Committee accepted an Agreed Statement of Facts and a joint submission on penalty.

The Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct and ordered the immediate revocation of his teaching certificate, with a condition that he not apply for reinstatement for at least five years.
