Human rights application alleging racial profiling by police dismissed for lack of evidence.
The applicant, a young South Asian man, alleged he was racially profiled and subjected to discrimination by a police officer who followed him home, and by a Staff Sergeant who later made comments about his appearance at the police station.
The Tribunal found that the officer had a valid, non-discriminatory reason to follow the applicant due to his driving behaviour, which raised suspicions of impairment.
The Tribunal also found that the Staff Sergeant's comments did not amount to adverse treatment or harassment under the Human Rights Code.
The application was dismissed.
