The Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario issued a Notice of Proposal to revoke the liquor licence of the Golden Ring Bar and Grill, and an interim suspension order, following a police raid that uncovered large quantities of suspected controlled substances (oxycodone, valium, codeine) and cash on the premises and on the person of the co-owner.

The Board found on a balance of probabilities that the Licensee violated subsection 45(2) of O.Reg 719/90 by permitting illegal drugs on the premises, and that there were reasonable grounds to conclude the business would not be carried on with integrity and honesty under clause 6(2)(d) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The interim suspension was maintained pending written submissions on penalty.
