A pre-hearing teleconference was held regarding a Notice of Proposal to suspend the liquor licence of Furbar Nightclub.

The Board ordered both the Licensee and the Registrar to complete mutual disclosure, including witness lists and evidence summaries, at least 10 days prior to the scheduled hearing date.

The Registrar issued a Notice of Proposed Order to refuse to renew the registration of Northwest Protection Services Ltd. as a non-gaming related supplier.

The refusal was based on the applicant's failure to facilitate a due diligence investigation by refusing to provide requested financial information, and its failure to disclose that a key employee had returned to work for the company.

The Board found that the applicant attempted to mislead the Commission regarding the employee's status and contravened the Gaming Control Act by refusing to provide relevant financial information.

The Board confirmed the proposal not to renew the registration.

The Registrar proposed to refuse the renewal of the registrant's gaming assistant registration due to a recent conviction for theft under $5,000 related to a previous employment.

The registrant had participated in a workplace theft scheme but had since paid restitution and fully disclosed the conviction on his renewal application.

The Board found the registrant to be remorseful and unlikely to reoffend, noting his candour and positive employment record at the casino.

The Board ordered a 7-day suspension of the registration rather than a refusal to renew.

The Registrar issued a Notice of Proposed Order to revoke the registration of the registrant and an Order of Immediate Suspension.

At the hearing, the immediate suspension was withdrawn, and the proposed order was amended to a suspension.

On consent of the parties, the Board ordered the registration suspended from February 2, 2007, to August 24, 2007, with a condition requiring counselling for anti-social behaviour for one year following reinstatement.

The Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario ordered the immediate suspension of the registrant's gaming registration after he was charged criminally with communicating with a person believed to be under 14 years of age for a sexual purpose.

The Board held a hearing to determine whether to continue the suspension.

The Board found that the serious nature of the allegations and the need to protect public confidence in the gaming industry justified the immediate suspension.

The Board confirmed the suspension order, directing that it remain in effect until the conclusion of the criminal matters and any subsequent regulatory action.
