The Fregeau family has deep roots in Northwestern Ontario and a distinguished tradition of public service. His grandfather, Joseph Victor Fregeau (1903--1972), was a prominent Kenora citizen who served as an alderman (1946--1952), mayor (1954--1956), member of the Kenora Rotary Club, and was eventually appointed a Magistrate in 1957.
