Following a finding of professional misconduct for failing to maintain an appropriate learning environment and making disrespectful and disparaging remarks to students, the Discipline Committee held a penalty hearing.
The member brought a preliminary motion to reopen the hearing to admit new evidence, which the Panel dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
On penalty, the Panel ordered a reprimand, a six-month suspension, and the successful completion of coursework on anger management, classroom management, professional ethics, and cultural sensitivity before returning to the classroom.
Applying the Hall factors, the Panel also ordered the member to pay $20,000 in costs to the College.
