The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a member for making inappropriate and sexist comments to students, including stating that 'girls belong in the kitchen'.
The member did not attend the hearing but submitted a plea of no contest and an agreed statement of facts.
The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct, specifically verbal and psychological abuse.
The member resigned from the College and signed an undertaking never to teach again.
The Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty and ordered a written reprimand to be recorded on the register.
