Teacher found guilty of professional misconduct for inappropriate comments, viewing inappropriate images, and failing to supervise.
The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a member for professional misconduct.
The member was alleged to have made sexist, racist, and demeaning comments to students, failed to address homophobic remarks by students, viewed inappropriate images of women during class, failed to supervise students, and vaped on school property.
The member did not attend the hearing.
The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct, concluding that his actions constituted verbal, psychological, and emotional abuse, and were disgraceful, dishonourable, and unprofessional.
The Committee ordered a reprimand, a 12-month suspension of his teaching certificate, mandatory coursework on classroom management and diversity, and costs of $12,500.
