The College of Nurses of Ontario brought disciplinary proceedings against a Registered Practical Nurse for professional misconduct.
The allegations included failing to meet standards of practice, and verbally, physically, and emotionally abusing a client.
The Member did not attend the hearing.
Based on witness testimony, the Discipline Committee found that the Member grabbed, slapped, and pushed the client, screamed at the client, and failed to familiarize herself with the client's Behaviour Management Program.
The Committee found the Member guilty of professional misconduct and ordered a four-month suspension, a reprimand, and conditions on her certificate of registration.
