The Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario ordered an interim suspension of a liquor licence in the interest of public safety.

At the commencement of the hearing, the Registrar requested that the interim suspension continue until the next hearing day.

The licensee consented to the request.

The Board ordered the interim suspension to remain in effect until the next hearing day.

The applicant applied for registration as a gaming assistant (croupier) and the Registrar issued a Notice of Proposed Order to refuse the registration based on past conduct and failure to disclose convictions.

The applicant had a lengthy history of Highway Traffic Act offences, an impaired driving conviction, and a recent Criminal Code charge for communicating for the purpose of prostitution.

He also failed to disclose these on his application, claiming carelessness and reliance on bad advice.

The Board found the applicant's past conduct and lack of disclosure unacceptable, confirming the Registrar's proposal to refuse registration.

The Registrar proposed to revoke the liquor licence of a pizzeria after undercover police officers repeatedly purchased cocaine from the licensee's father, who was working in the premises.

A search warrant also uncovered a significant quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

The Board found that the licensee knew or was wilfully blind to the drug activities, constituting a breach of the regulations and affording reasonable grounds to believe the business would not be operated with integrity and honesty.

The Board ordered the immediate revocation of the licence, rejecting the licensee's request to voluntarily surrender it.

The Registrar issued a Notice of Proposal to revoke the respondent's liquor licence.

The Board found breaches of the regulations for keeping illegal liquor on the premises and permitting drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

The parties agreed to a lengthy suspension rather than revocation.

The Board ordered a 50-day suspension of the licence, noting the seriousness of the events and that the licensee himself was responsible, though acknowledging it was his first six months of operation.

The corporate licensee applied for additional licensed capacity for its establishment.

Following an earlier decision that granted patio capacity on terms and adjourned the indoor capacity issue pending soundproofing, the licensee submitted evidence of soundproofing and proposed noise control measures.

At the hearing, the Licensee required a translator and requested an adjournment to obtain a lawyer and a translator.

The Board granted the adjournment, noting it could not proceed if the Licensee did not understand the proceedings.

Due to safety concerns raised by the Registrar regarding locked doors, the Board imposed a condition that the doors of the licensed premises remain unlocked while the business is open, and made the next hearing date peremptory on the Licensee.

The Registrar of Alcohol and Gaming issued a Notice of Proposal to refuse the transfer of a liquor licence to CSH Gibson Home Inc. due to the applicant's failure to provide required documentation.

The applicant did not attend the hearing despite receiving ample notice, and the Board proceeded ex parte.

The Board found that the applicant's repeated failure to disclose necessary documents over a two-year period provided reasonable grounds to believe the business would not be carried on in accordance with the law and with honesty and integrity.

The application to transfer the licence was refused.
