The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a vice-principal for engaging in a personal and sexual relationship with a student.
The member communicated with the student via text messages containing sexual content and engaged in sexual relations with her at his residence.
When an investigation was initiated, the member encouraged the student to mislead the police and the school board.
The member pleaded no contest to the allegations.
The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct, including sexual abuse, psychological abuse, and disgraceful, dishonourable, and unprofessional conduct.
Pursuant to the mandatory revocation provisions of the Ontario College of Teachers Act, the Committee ordered the immediate revocation of the member's teaching certificate and issued a written reprimand.
