Teacher reprimanded and ordered to take classroom management course for inadequate supervision of students.
The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a member for professional misconduct related to inadequate classroom supervision and inadvertent physical contact with students.
The member pleaded no contest to the allegations, admitting that he failed to maintain professional standards and adequately supervise students when they engaged in unsafe behaviour with a lawnmower and a hoist in the classroom.
The Discipline Committee accepted the joint submission on penalty, finding the member guilty of professional misconduct.
The Committee ordered that the member receive a reprimand and successfully complete a pre-approved course in classroom management.
