A show cause hearing was convened to determine whether Rideau Carleton Raceway's licence to operate a race track should be suspended, cancelled, or revoked due to an inadequate lighting system.

The Ontario Racing Commission ordered the raceway to replace malfunctioning bulbs daily, install additional lighting poles and photo finish lighting by specific dates, and report back on the status of these changes.

The raceway was also required to submit a concrete proposal for a new lighting system by December 1, 2000, with a completion date on or before January 31, 2001.

Sudbury Downs Raceway applied for a teletheatre licence to be located at Dante's Den in Sudbury.

Following a hearing, the Ontario Racing Commission approved the application by majority decision, conditional upon the receipt of a new liquor license.

The Ontario Jockey Club applied for a teletheatre licence for a location in Markham.

The application was considered incomplete by the Administration because it lacked correspondence from the local municipality stating they had no objections.

After a hearing, the Ontario Racing Commission denied the application without prejudice, inviting the applicant to resubmit when complete.
