The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a member alleging incompetence and professional misconduct.
The professional misconduct allegations were withdrawn at the hearing.
The Discipline Committee found the member incompetent based on three unsatisfactory performance appraisals that highlighted severe deficiencies in lesson planning, classroom management, and student evaluation, despite extensive support and mentoring provided by the school board.
The member abandoned the hearing midway through.
The Committee ordered that terms, conditions, and limitations be placed on the member's certificate, requiring the successful completion of a comprehensive teaching course before returning to the profession.
