Parties
Between:
His Majesty the King (Respondent)
and

Counsel
- Ingrid Grant, appearing as duty counsel for the appellant
- Étienne Lacombe, for the respondent
Hearing
Heard and released orally: July 15, 2025
On appeal from the sentence imposed by Justice Wendy L. Harris Bentley of the Ontario Court of Justice on June 5, 2024.
Reasons for Decision
[1] This is an appeal from a global four-year sentence. The appellant challenges the three-year probation order to follow upon his release from custody. He argues that the length of the term will interfere with his effective reintegration into the community. We have been pointed to no error in principle that would permit our intervention. Moreover, given the seriousness of the offences – each arising from a domestic situation – the three-year term of probation is not demonstrably unfit.
[2] Leave to appeal sentence is granted but the sentence appeal is dismissed.
