The College of Nurses of Ontario brought disciplinary proceedings against a registered nurse for submitting false claims under her employer's group benefit plan.

The nurse admitted to participating in a scheme to submit fraudulent claims for support stockings, resulting in the misappropriation of $7,982.50.

While she admitted to contravening practice standards, misappropriating property, and engaging in dishonourable conduct, she disputed that the falsified records related to her practice or were signed in her professional capacity.

The Discipline Committee found that her actions were sufficiently connected to her employment as a nurse and her access to the benefit plan, concluding she committed professional misconduct on all five allegations.

The Member, a registered nurse, faced allegations of professional misconduct for verbally and emotionally abusing patients at a long-term care facility, including making inappropriate comments and being involved in unauthorized photography of a patient.

The matter proceeded by way of an Agreed Statement of Facts and a Joint Submission on Order.

The Discipline Committee found that the Member committed professional misconduct and ordered a reprimand, a three-month suspension, and terms, conditions, and limitations on her certificate of registration, including meetings with a Regulatory Expert and employer notification.

The Member, a registered nurse, faced allegations of professional misconduct for failing to participate in the College's Quality Assurance program after being randomly selected.

The Member admitted to the allegations.

The Discipline Committee found that the Member committed professional misconduct by failing to cooperate with the Quality Assurance Committee and engaging in unprofessional conduct.

The Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty, ordering an oral reprimand, a two-month suspension, and terms including meetings with a regulatory expert and mandatory participation in the next Quality Assurance cycle.

The Member, a registered nurse, faced allegations of professional misconduct for failing to participate in the College's Quality Assurance Practice Assessment and Practice Simulation in 2018 and 2019.

The Member admitted to the allegations and agreed to a Joint Submission on Order.

The Discipline Committee found the Member committed professional misconduct and ordered a reprimand, a two-month suspension, terms and conditions on her certificate of registration, and mandatory participation in the next Quality Assurance program cycle.
