Teacher found guilty of professional misconduct for physical, verbal, and psychological abuse of multiple students.
The Ontario College of Teachers brought a discipline proceeding against a retired member for alleged professional misconduct involving 12 students between 2008 and 2012.
The allegations included physical, verbal, and psychological abuse, such as grabbing and shaking students, making demeaning comments, and using homophobic language.
The member did not attend the hearing.
The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct, concluding that she failed to maintain the standards of the profession, abused students physically, verbally, and psychologically, and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable, and unprofessional conduct.
A penalty hearing was to be scheduled.
