Teacher reprimanded and suspended for six months for insubordination, inappropriate comments, and intoxication on school property.
The Member, a teacher, faced allegations of professional misconduct arising from a pattern of inappropriate behaviour between 2010 and 2017, including insubordination, making inappropriate comments to parents and colleagues, and being intoxicated on school property.
The Member pleaded no contest to the allegations.
The Discipline Committee found the Member guilty of professional misconduct for failing to comply with the Education Act, engaging in disgraceful, dishonourable, or unprofessional conduct, and conduct unbecoming a member.
Accepting a joint submission on penalty, the Committee ordered a reprimand, a six-month suspension of the Member's certificate, and the completion of a pre-approved course on respectful communication and the role of teachers as community role models.
