The Ontario College of Teachers sought leave to withdraw allegations of professional misconduct and incompetence against the Member, following his acquittal at a criminal trial where the trial judge found the student complainant's evidence inconsistent and unreliable.

The Member consented to the withdrawal.

The Discipline Committee granted the College's request and authorized the withdrawal of all allegations.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought discipline proceedings against a member, alleging physical and verbal abuse of students and failure to maintain professional standards.

The allegations included grabbing a student by the wrist, stepping on another student's foot, and yelling or using demeaning language.

After hearing testimony from students, parents, school administrators, and an expert psychologist, the Discipline Committee found insufficient credible evidence to support the charges.

The Committee noted concerns with the member's classroom management but concluded the conduct did not amount to professional misconduct.

The charges were dismissed.

The Ontario College of Teachers brought discipline proceedings against a teacher who struck a student with a hockey stick in an arena change room.

The incident began as horseplay, but the teacher blocked the student in the shower and made physical contact with the stick, causing welts and embarrassment.

The Discipline Committee found that while there was no malice or intent to harm, the teacher committed a boundary violation and failed to maintain the standards of the profession.

The teacher was found guilty of professional misconduct and suspended for five days.

The Ontario College of Teachers alleged that the member, an occasional teacher, committed professional misconduct by physically assaulting several students.

The Discipline Committee heard testimony from students, parents, and other witnesses.

The Committee found the evidence and testimony regarding the alleged assaults to be inconsistent or unproven, and concluded that any physical contact that may have occurred was either accidental or of a guiding nature.

The charges of professional misconduct were dismissed.
