The Ontario Land Tribunal held a status conference regarding multiple expropriation compensation claims against the Ministry of Transportation.

The Tribunal ordered that if the parties cannot resolve disputes over the claimants' proposed amended pleadings, the respondent must file a motion by May 4, 2026.

The Tribunal adjourned the hearing, scheduled a further Case Management Conference to set new dates, and ordered the claimants to identify any additional expert witnesses.

The respondent's request for interim costs thrown away was dismissed, with costs reserved to the final hearing.

The accused, previously found not criminally responsible for five counts of assault, was subject to an annual review hearing by the Ontario Review Board.

The accused suffers from schizophrenia and severe substance use disorders.

The treating psychiatrist testified that the accused was poorly engaged with the treatment team, not optimally treated, and continued to use cocaine and cannabis.

The Board found that the accused continues to pose a significant threat to the safety of the public due to his psychotic illness exacerbated by ongoing drug use and poor insight.

The Board ordered the maintenance of the current detention order as the least onerous and least restrictive disposition.

The accused, previously found not criminally responsible for causing a disturbance, appeared before the Ontario Review Board for an annual review hearing.

Although an absolute discharge had been anticipated, the accused recently suffered a manic episode requiring hospitalization.

The Board accepted the joint submission that the accused continues to pose a significant threat to public safety.

Applying the factors under section 672.54 of the Criminal Code, the Board ordered that the accused remain subject to a conditional discharge.
