The College of Nurses of Ontario brought disciplinary proceedings against a registered nurse for professional misconduct.

The allegations included documenting care that was not performed on a home care client and leaving a shift early at a long-term care facility while failing to follow proper narcotics count and key handover procedures.

The Discipline Committee found that the Member committed professional misconduct.

The Committee ordered a reprimand, a one-month suspension to take effect upon any reinstatement of her certificate of registration, and imposed conditions on her return to practice.

The College of Nurses of Ontario brought allegations of professional misconduct against the member, a registered nurse, based on multiple criminal convictions including fraudulent impersonation, theft, fraud, and breach of probation, as well as misappropriation of property from her workplace.

The member admitted to the allegations and the parties submitted an Agreed Statement of Facts and a Joint Submission as to Penalty.

The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct and, accepting the joint submission, ordered that the member be reprimanded and her Certificate of Registration be revoked.

The College of Nurses of Ontario brought allegations of professional misconduct against the Member for practising while her registration was suspended, pre-pouring medications, and failing to notify her employer of her suspension.

The Member did not attend the hearing.

The Discipline Committee found that the Member had worked as a Registered Practical Nurse while suspended, pre-poured medications for a subsequent shift, and failed to inform her employer of her suspension.

Allegations regarding failing to check pre-poured medications and administering 'prn' medications without assessment were dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

The Committee ordered the immediate revocation of the Member's Certificate of Registration, emphasizing the serious breach of public trust and the Member's ungovernability.

The Member, a registered nurse, provided home care to a client and developed an inappropriate personal relationship with him, breaching the boundaries of the therapeutic nurse-client relationship.

The Member disclosed personal and financial difficulties, accepted gifts and assistance, wore unprofessional clothing, and eventually moved in with the client after his discharge from home care.

The Discipline Committee found the Member committed professional misconduct.

The Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty, ordering a reprimand, a three-month suspension, and conditions on the Member's certificate of registration.
