Motor vehicle dealer registration refused due to curbsiding, lack of financial responsibility, and involvement of revoked father.
The appellants appealed a Notice of Proposal by the Registrar to refuse their registration as a motor vehicle dealer and salesperson.
The Registrar found that the applicant's father, whose own registration had been revoked for dishonest conduct, was an interested person in the proposed business.
The Registrar also found that the applicant lacked financial responsibility, made false statements, failed to provide requested banking information, and engaged in unregistered dealing of vehicles ('curbsiding') while the appeal was pending.
The Licence Appeal Tribunal upheld the Registrar's findings, concluding there were reasonable grounds to believe the applicant would not carry on business in accordance with the law and with integrity and honesty.
The Tribunal directed the Registrar to carry out the proposal to refuse the registrations.
