Jurisdictional dispute over wood blocking installation in built-up roofing system resolved in favour of Sheet Metal Workers.
The applicant union filed jurisdictional dispute applications concerning the assignment of handling and installation of wood blocking as part of a built-up roofing system at a Toyota plant.
The work had been assigned to the applicant's members by the responding employers, but the responding union claimed the work should have been assigned to its members.
Following a consultation, the Board upheld the assignment to the applicant's members.
The Board found that employer practice, economy and efficiency, and decisions of record favoured the applicant, while area practice was neutral or favoured the applicant.
