The College of Early Childhood Educators brought a discipline case against the respondent RECE for professional misconduct.

The respondent and another educator were supervising nine preschool-aged children in a playground.

The respondent failed to notice two three-year-old children leave the playground unsupervised through an unlocked gate.

The children were found by a member of the public near a busy intersection and returned 10 to 15 minutes later.

The Discipline Committee accepted a joint submission, finding the respondent guilty of professional misconduct for failing to adequately supervise the children and breaching the standards of practice.

The Committee ordered a reprimand, a six-month suspension, and terms, conditions, and limitations on the respondent's certificate of registration, including a mentorship requirement.

The RECE participated in a Discipline Resolution Process and agreed to a Proposed Resolution admitting to professional misconduct, including physical, verbal, and psychological abuse of a 3-year-old child.

The RECE dragged the child across a paved walkway and later yelled in the child's face while forcibly removing their jacket.

The Discipline Committee accepted the joint submission, finding the RECE guilty of professional misconduct.

The Committee ordered a reprimand, a 10-month suspension, and terms, conditions, and limitations on the RECE's certificate of registration, including coursework and mentorship.
