Tribunal partially awards visitor expenses for hospital visits but denies meal deliveries to family home.
The applicant, a minor who sustained a catastrophic impairment in a motor vehicle accident, sought payment for visitor expenses incurred by his family while he was hospitalized.
The Licence Appeal Tribunal partially allowed the claims for Uber Eats and Uber transportation, finding that expenses for meal deliveries and travel to the rehabilitation hospital and temporary accommodations were reasonable and necessary.
However, the Tribunal denied expenses for meals delivered to the family's home and the grandparents' home, as well as transportation to unrelated locations.
The Tribunal also dismissed the applicant's claim for a special award under s. 10 of Regulation 664, finding that the respondent's actions in requesting further particulars for the voluminous receipts were not unreasonable.
