[1] The respondent requests an adjournment of the hearing of this application to obtain counsel. The applicant agrees that this is appropriate but seeks a condition that no further action be commenced and no further step be taken during the adjournment. Given the allegations in this application that restriction is reasonable. It is also reasonable given the history of Mr. Van Sluytman’s litigation that this application be heard expeditiously. Therefore the next return date should be peremptory on the respondent.

The hearing of the application is adjourned to June 12, 2017, 9:30 am peremptory on the respondent. It will proceed on that date whether or not he has counsel available.
During the period of the adjournment the respondent may not: a) commence any further action of any kind; b) take any further steps in any action already commenced with the following exceptions: i. perfecting any appeal already filed* ii. taking any step necessary to prepare properly for the hearing in action DC-16-987-00JR (Van Sluytman v. Health Professionals Appeal and Review Board).
*The respondent in any appeal need not respond to that appeal until 60 days following the disposition of this application.
