[1] The applicant requests spousal support in the amount of $1,500 per month commencing December 1, 2013. She presently receives CPP disability income totalling $1,051.80 per month. Her son, who had previously withdrawn from parental control, has returned to live with her as he is attending college on a full-time basis. Ms. Este’s drug expenses exceed $1,250 per month. Mr. Blais has now, pursuant to court order, reinstated coverage available to him for Ms. Este’s drug expenses, but she is left with a shortfall of about $250 per month for these drug purchases.
[2] Mr. Blais’ monthly income total $5,021. This includes a Veterans’ Affairs pension of $324 per month which is not taxable.
[3] The Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, based on the parties’ period of cohabitation and ages suggest the range of spousal support be from a low of $552 to a high of $737 per month. Ms. Este informs the court she cannot cope financially on spousal support within that range. Her financial statement supports that position.
[4] Having regard to the additional costs incurred by Ms. Este in providing room and board to her son, her limited income and disability, Mr. Blais’ monthly income, debts, assets and other liabilities, it is appropriate that the spousal support reflect the additional burden placed on Ms. Este caused by her son’s return to school. That spousal support will be set at $1,000 per month.
[5] It is therefore ordered that Mr. Blais pay to Ms. Este spousal support in the sum of $1,000 per month commencing on December 1, 2013.
[6] He shall also continue to maintain medical health and drug coverage.
Rivard J.
