[1] A settlement conference was held today. This matter is ready for trial. Two weeks of trial time is required.
[2] It appears that a significant impediment to the resolution of this claim is the refusal of Sun Life Insurance to participate in the negotiation process. As a result, the plaintiff has no option but to proceed to trial and therefore faces significant risk and costs. My strong suggestion is that Sun Life immediately enter into negotiations with counsel failing which, cost sanctions may apply
