1We were informed at the hearing on September 27, 2000 that this appeal had been adjourned to that date to enable the appeal book to be prepared and for consideration on whether amicus curiae should be appointed. The appeal book, in two volumes, has now been prepared.
2The appellant informed the court that he does not wish to have counsel appointed to represent him but that he was not opposed to the appointment of amicus curiae.
3We appoint Richard Litkowski as amicus curiae to assist the court on this appeal. Mr. Alvaro informed the court that it would be appropriate for the order to be made under s. 684 of the Criminal Code and we, accordingly, make it under this provision.
1The appeal is adjourned to a date to be fixed by the registrar to be further spoken to or to be heard.
