The appellant appealed her conviction for failing to stop at a stop sign contrary to section 136 of the Highway Traffic Act.
She raised two grounds of appeal: (1) that the Justice of the Peace erred in assessing witness credibility, and (2) that the prosecution failed to prove the legality of the stop sign as required by section 137 of the Highway Traffic Act.
The appellate court dismissed both grounds of appeal, finding that the Justice of the Peace did not err in assessing the evidence and that although the reasoning was flawed, the conclusion regarding the legality of the stop sign was correct when applying proper legal principles.
