The accused was tried on multiple fraud-related charges arising from the operation of a paramedical clinic and the submission of false insurance claims for treatments not provided.
The court rejected the accused's evidence as wholly unreliable, accepted the evidence of former patients and insurer records, and found that the Crown proved a large-scale scheme involving false billing, forged attendance and claim forms, and false Small Claims Court proceedings.
The court also found the accused held herself out as a qualified naturopath and massage therapist despite lacking the required Ontario registration.
A conviction was entered on seven of eight counts, with an acquittal on the Manulife count because no evidence was called.
