The College of Nurses of Ontario brought disciplinary proceedings against a member who had pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his daughter.
The Discipline Committee found that the member committed professional misconduct, as the criminal conviction was highly relevant to his suitability to practice nursing.
Relying on expert testimony regarding the vulnerability of psychiatric clients and the fundamental breach of trust, the Committee revoked the member's certificate of registration and ordered an oral reprimand.
