The Ontario Review Board conducted an annual review of the disposition for an accused found not criminally responsible for attempted murder and assault with a weapon.

The accused, diagnosed with bipolar I disorder and substance use disorder, experienced multiple decompensations and hospital readmissions due to medication non-compliance and substance use.

The Board found that the accused continues to pose a significant threat to public safety.

The Board ordered the continuation of the Detention Order with modifications, including the removal of out-of-province travel passes and a transfer to St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton to facilitate community reintegration and proximity to family support.
