Minor variance appeal for driveway widening dismissed due to negative impacts on streetscape and landscaping.
The appellant appealed the City of Brampton Committee of Adjustment's decision denying a minor variance to permit an existing driveway widening of 1.48 metres.
The appellant, who was self-represented, called no expert evidence.
The City presented uncontroverted expert land use planning evidence that the variance failed to meet the four tests under the Planning Act, as it would create an excessively wide driveway, reduce landscaping, and negatively impact the streetscape.
The Tribunal accepted the City's expert evidence, found the variance did not meet the four tests or provincial policies, and dismissed the appeal.
