The College of Nurses of Ontario brought disciplinary proceedings against a Registered Practical Nurse for multiple incidents of professional misconduct during his orientation at a hospital.
The allegations included attempting to administer medication unsafely, inaccurate documentation, failing to follow preceptor directions, and unprofessional behaviour towards colleagues.
The Discipline Committee found that the Member committed professional misconduct by breaching standards of practice, failing to keep accurate records, and engaging in unprofessional and dishonourable conduct.
The Member was ordered to receive an oral reprimand, a 4-month suspension, remedial education, 18 months of employer notification, and to pay $4,800 in costs.
