A formal complaint was filed by a Member of Parliament alleging that the Mayor of Oakville breached the Councillors' Code of Conduct by improperly using Town resources to support a federal election candidate, improperly cancelling council meetings, and misusing social media.
The Integrity Officer investigated and found no evidence of improper use of Town resources or influence.
While the Integrity Officer found that the Mayor made an error in judgment by initiating the cancellation of meetings without a majority of Council in agreement, he concluded that the actions were not motivated by personal or political benefit and recommended no sanctions.
The Integrity Officer also found no objectionable content in the Mayor's social media postings.
