The Ontario College of Teachers brought disciplinary proceedings against a member for professional misconduct, alleging she made inappropriate comments, used profanity, and verbally abused students in her classroom.

The member pleaded no contest to the allegations and admitted to the uncontested facts.

The Discipline Committee found the member guilty of professional misconduct.

Accepting a joint submission on penalty, the Committee ordered a reprimand, a one-month retroactive suspension, and the completion of coursework on appropriate boundaries and classroom management.

The Committee also ordered that the member's name be published in the College's official publication, finding that the aggravating factors, including a pattern of repeated behaviour despite previous board interventions, outweighed the mitigating factors.

The Member, a secondary school teacher, pleaded guilty to professional misconduct stemming from incidents during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Member engaged in inappropriate physical contact with female students, used inappropriate language, made racist remarks about a vice-principal, and displayed a lack of self-control by yelling and kicking furniture.

The Discipline Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty, ordering a reprimand and the completion of courses on boundary violations and anger management.

The Committee also ordered that the Member's name be published in the College's official publication, finding that publication was necessary for specific and general deterrence and to ensure the transparency of the discipline process.

The member, a teacher, pled guilty to professional misconduct for physically, verbally, and psychologically abusing students.

The member struck students on the head, yelled at them, and made inappropriate and demeaning comments, including homophobic remarks.

The Discipline Committee accepted the agreed statement of facts and joint submission on penalty.

The member was reprimanded, received a retroactive six-month suspension, and was ordered to complete anger management and classroom management courses.

The Committee also ordered publication of the decision with the member's name to serve as a specific and general deterrent.

The Member pleaded guilty to professional misconduct for inappropriately touching two female students while tutoring them.

The Discipline Committee accepted the agreed statement of facts and found the Member guilty of failing to maintain the standards of the profession, engaging in disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct, and conduct unbecoming a member.

The Committee accepted a joint submission on penalty, ordering a reprimand and publication of the decision with the Member's name.

The College brought a motion seeking leave to withdraw allegations of professional misconduct and incompetence against the Member.

The parties agreed to the withdrawal in exchange for the Member's undertaking to resign her membership immediately, never teach again in Ontario, and have her status on the public register noted as 'Resigned-Cancelled'.

The Discipline Committee granted the motion, finding the withdrawal in exchange for the undertaking reasonable and in the public interest.
