There may be significant fines for breaching this restriction.
The Ontario Registered Psychotherapists Discipline Tribunal is the Discipline Committee established under the Health Professions Procedural Code.
Introduction
1The College’s Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee referred several allegations of professional misconduct to the Tribunal relating to the registrant’s treatment of a client. The parties have entered into an agreement to resolve this matter. The registrant has resigned their membership with the College effective March 2, 2026, and undertaken not to re-apply for registration as a psychotherapist, counsellor or registered mental health therapist in Ontario or in any jurisdiction. The parties ask that these proceedings therefore be indefinitely adjourned.
2As a result of the resignation and undertaking, the registrant will no longer practise as a psychotherapist in Ontario or any other jurisdiction. This outcome goes beyond what the Tribunal could order if it found professional misconduct. I agree with the parties that given this, there is no need for a hearing, and the public is protected. I grant the request for an indefinite adjournment. The Tribunal will now close this file.
