COMMISSION HEARING TORONTO, ONTARIO – JANUARY 16, 2013
IN THE MATTER OF THE RACING COMMISSION ACT, S.O. 2000, c. 20;
AND IN THE MATTER OF THE APPEAL AND REQUEST FOR HEARING OF
STANDARDBRED LICENSEE NICHOLAS BOYD
On November 4, 2012, the Judges issued Official Ruling SB 45130 to Nicholas Boyd (“BOYD”) wherein a $500 fine and a 15-day driving suspension were imposed upon BOYD for violating Rules 22.23.03(a)(b) and 22.23.05(a)(b) of the Rules of Standardbred Racing.
On November 8, 2012, BOYD filled a Notice of Appeal, pursuant to Rule 24.01(b) of the Rules of Standardbred Racing.
On January 16, 2012, a Panel of the Ontario Racing Commission (“ORC”), comprised of Commissioner John Macdonald, convened for the purpose of hearing this matter.
Brian Newton appeared on behalf of the Administration of the ORC. BOYD was unable to attend the hearing due to injuries suffered from a racing accident that occurred in race 6 at Western Fair Raceway on January 15, 2013.
An adjournment of this hearing is accepted by the Panel to a date to be determined by the Administration of the ORC.
