STANDARDBRED OWNER RICK CAUVIER
Standardbred Licensee Rick Cauvier requested a hearing before the Ontario Racing Commission of the Directors’ Notice of Proposed Order issued March 2005.
On April 14, 2005, Chair Lynda Tanaka, Commissioners Brenda Walker and David Gorman convened to hear the matter.
Mr. Cauvier appeared on his own behalf and counsel Luisa Ritacca appeared for the Administration.
Upon hearing from the Administration and from Mr. Cauvier, upon reading the exhibits filed, and hearing the evidence of the witnesses for the Administration and of Rick Cauvier, the Ontario Racing Commission confirmed the Executive Director’s decision to revoke Mr. Cauvier’s licence subject to the following:
(a) The date of the revocation of Mr. Cauvier’s licence will be delayed until May 14, 2005. Mr. Cauvier is to arrange for the sale or transfer of any and all horses he owns, wholly or in part prior to that date;
(b) Any horses owned wholly or in part by Mr. Cauvier cannot be transferred unless he has received the prior consent of the judges at the Rideau-Carlton Raceway in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Commission gave oral reasons for its decision which are part of the transcript.
