AND IN THE MATTER OF 2005 LIVE AND INTERTRACK RACE DATES
RIDEAU CARLETON RACEWAY
On January 20, 2005, the Governing Board of the Ontario Racing Commission met by teleconference to consider a race date application from Rideau Carleton Holdings Ltd. for Rideau Carleton Raceway for 18 additional live race dates in addition to the 131 dated for 2005 already approved by the Commission in Ruling GEN 014/2004 dated October 21, 2004.
At the meeting the Board considered this application along with submissions received by the Commission following circulation of the application.
The Board approved the following race dates in addition to those approved in Ruling GEN 014/2004:
Additional Live Standardbred Race Dates
January 30
February 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24 and 27
March 3, 6, 10, 13 and 17
August 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2005
Including all post times as applied for.
THIS APPROVAL IS SUBJECT TO AND CONTINGENT ON the following conditions being met by the Applicant, no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, January 28, 2005:
The Applicant shall provide in writing to the Executive Director written confirmation from a certified electrician that the temporary measures taken by the applicant to heat the Official’s Stand meet applicable safety standards;
The Applicant shall provide in writing to the Executive Director a commitment that the average temperature in all rooms in the Officials’ Stand will be maintained at an average of 20.5 degrees Celsius when they are occupied for any purpose in respect of winter racing.
Failing which, the additional scheduled race dates noted above, beginning with January 30, 2005 shall be cancelled until the Applicant complies fully with the above conditions.
THIS APPROVAL IS FURTHER SUBJECT TO AND CONTINGENT ON the following conditions being met by the Applicant, no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, February 11, 2005:
The Applicant shall provide in writing to the Executive Director a project plan for the Executive Director’s review and approval, setting out the permanent measures the Applicant shall take to make the Officials’ Stand suitable for winter use, which project plan shall address issues including improvements to windows, insulation and heating, and committing to specific dates when the measures proposed by the plan shall be completed.
The Applicant shall provide in writing to the Executive Director a revised Racetrack Maintenance Plan for the Executive Director’s review and approval, setting out the measures the Applicant shall take to make and maintain the race track surface in a condition suitable for winter racing.
Failing which, the additional scheduled race dates noted above, beginning with February 17, 2005 shall be cancelled until the Applicant complies fully with the above conditions.
