ANTONIO TANGREDA
Standardbred Owner/Trainer Antonio Tangreda (C35448) appealed the penalty imposed by the Judges in Ruling SB 28560, dated February 17, 2004, wherein his licence was suspended for 60 days and he was fined $10,000.00 for having been found in violation of Rules 5.11, 26.15 and 1.09 of the Rules of Standardbred Racing as a result of a suspended trainer, Jason Ackroyd, having been discovered to be jogging the horse ARMBRO WHIMSICAL on February 9, 2004, for which horse Mr. Tangreda was the trainer of record.
On July 14, 2004, Chair Lynda Tanaka, Commissioners David Gorman and Brenda Walker of the Ontario Racing Commission convened to hear the appeal.
Bert Arnold appeared on behalf of Mr. Tangreda. Tim Snell appeared on behalf of the Administration.
Upon hearing the evidence of Judge Don Lawrence, John McEachern, Antonio Tangreda, and upon reading the exhibits and hearing the submissions of the parties, the Ontario Racing Commission decided to allow this appeal in part as follows:
Mr. Tangreda’s licence shall be suspended for 21 days, beginning July 19, 2004 until August 8, 2004, inclusive;
Mr. Tangreda is fined $7,500.00.
Mr. Tangreda’s licence is hereby suspended, beginning July 19, 2004 until August 8, 2004 inclusive. Mr. Tangreda is hereby ordered to pay by cheque to the Ontario Racing Commission $7,500.00 by August 8, 2004, failing which his licence will be suspended until full payment is made pursuant to the Rules.
