IN THE MATTER OF THE RACING COMMISSION ACT, S.O. 2000, c.20;
AND IN THE MATTER OF STANDARDBRED TRAINER CURT BOND
RULING
Standardbred trainer Curt Bond appeared before a panel of the Ontario Racing Commission following the issuance of SB Ruling 28647 wherein he was fully suspended indefinitely in accordance with SB Rules 6.38(f) and 5.11 by the Judges at Flamboro Downs.
ORC Chair Stanley Sadinsky, Q.C, convened to hear the matter, along with Commissioners Thomas Deacon and Dr. Bernard Brennan.
Curt Bond appeared on his own behalf and Joanne Mitchell appeared on behalf of the ORC Administration.
On hearing the evidence of Curt Bond and ORC Judge Bill Pennington, on reading the exhibits filed and on hearing the submissions of the parties, the panel determined that Curt Bond violated Rules 6.38(f) and 5.11. The panel, however, varied the penalty to a full one-month suspension.
Mr. Bond’s suspension will be from the date of February 26, 2003 until March 26, 2003. Upon reinstatement, the conditions of his licence set out in a previous Commission Ruling, SB 004/2003, will remain in effect.
The reasons for decision were provided orally and form part of the transcript.
DATED this 21st day of March 2003.
