REASONS FOR DISPOSITION

Introduction:
On September 30, 2013, the accused, Shane Callow, was found not criminally responsible (“NCR”) on account of mental disorder on one count of attempted murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (“Criminal Code”).
Again, on August 22, 2019, Mr. Callow was found NCR by reason of mental disorder on charges of arson – damage to property, assault with a weapon (x2) and assault causing bodily harm (x2), all contrary to the Criminal Code.
Mr. Callow is currently subject to a Disposition of the Ontario Review Board dated October 23, 2024, which detains him at the Secure Forensic Unit of Providence Care Hospital with privileges up to and including to live in the community in accommodation approved by the person in charge.
On January 20, 2026, the Ontario Review Board convened a hearing at the Providence Care Hospital to review Mr. Callow’s Disposition. Mr. Callow attended his hearing and was represented by his counsel, Mr. Michael Schloss.
