REASONS FOR DISPOSITION

Introduction
Chase Benjamin Rienguette, age 35, on February 12, 2018, was found unfit on account of mental disorder on charges of assault, failure to comply with probation order (x3), failure to comply with condition of judicial release (x2), contrary to the Criminal Code.
Mr. Rienguette had an annual hearing and by Disposition dated January 3, 2025, his finding of unfitness was confirmed, and he was ordered transferred to the North Bay Regional Health Centre – North Bay site. Until that happened, he was awarded privileges. In error, he was awarded hospital and grounds privileges indirectly supervised at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. Of course, such a privilege does not exist at Waypoint.
On April 4, 2025, Mr. Rienguette appeared before the Ontario Review Board (the “Board”) to correct that oversight.
The Board had before it as Exhibit 1, the Hospital Report from his last annual hearing and as Exhibit 2, a transcript of what occurred at that hearing. The Board also had before it the most recent Disposition, the most recent Reasons for Disposition, and correspondence regarding the need for an amendment. The matter was presented as a joint position. Mr. Rienguette was consenting to the necessary amendment.
In accordance with the evidence regarding the oversight, the Board ordered that paragraph 5(c) be deleted. All other provisions of the January 3, 2025, Disposition remain in place.
