DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL: November 2, 2015
This is an application under the Pay Equity Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.7, as amended (“the Act”).
Section 2.1(1) of the Statutory Powers Procedure Act permits a panel of one to decide this matter.
The Tribunal has received a request from the responding party trade union (“CUPE”) that the time for filing its response in this matter be extended until November 30, 2015, which is three weeks beyond the normal deadline. The reason advanced is so that the representative requesting the extension may speak to counsel.
Absent the consent of the applicant’s counsel, I am not prepared to grant an extension of such magnitude. I am prepared to grant an extension until November 9, 2015.
CUPE and the applicant may agree to a further extension up to November 30, 2015, but if they do so, CUPE should advise the Registrar of that fact.
