File Nos.: 2875-08-PE, 3035-08-PE Before: Diane L. Gee, Chair. Decision of the Tribunal: November 7, 2011
2875-08-PE The Windsor Star, Applicant v. Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 517-G, Respondent.
3035-08-PE Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 517-G, Applicant v. The Windsor Star, Respondent.
Decision
The Tribunal is in receipt of correspondence dated November 2, 2011 from counsel for Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 517-G (the “Union”) requesting that the Pay Equity Hearings Tribunal proceed with resolving the outstanding issues in these files notwithstanding that the Union has proposed to The Windsor Star that the parties enter into mediation. The request is opposed by The Windsor Star on the basis that the parties have agreed to engage in mediation.
The parties are free to pursue mediation, however, given the amount of time that these applications have been outstanding and the request of one of the parties that the Tribunal resume its processes, the Tribunal has determined that it is appropriate for further hearing dates to be set.
These matters are hereby referred to the Registrar to schedule for a single day of hearing to hear the parties’ evidence and submissions in respect of the issue as to whether the EPP Operator job class is gender neutral. The panel previously assigned to these matters is not seized.
