[1] These are serious offences. The contribution of drugs and guns poses a serious risk to society.
[2] However, in our view, the sentencing judge did not give adequate consideration to the appellant’s age and his status as a first offender.
[3] In these circumstances, we would uphold the 12 month sentence on the gun offence and in light of the time spent in pre-trial custody (1½ months X2) we would convert the sentence on the hashish charge to a concurrent sentence.
